I went to my first yoga class in Thailand almost 2 years ago. I was travelling around the world at the time and I had become interested in Buddhism and I wanted to learn how to meditate. I was starting to read a lot of New Age books and became fascinated by them. I had always wondered what yoga would be like but never went to a class in Ireland. I went to a couple of classes around Thailand, but found it quite difficult. I wasn’t the slightest bit flexible! However I really enjoyed the calmness of the mind, which resulted from practicing the postures.
I decided to enrol on a 10 day intensive yoga course on the Island of Koh Phangnan. I thoroughly enjoyed the course and I was eager to learn more.
When I got home I applied to the YTTC to do their Level 1 Yoga teacher training Diploma. The course has been fantastic. I have a deep awareness of the postures both anatomically and physically, as well as developing my teaching skills. Furthermore I have learned how to meditate!
It really is amazing how your body and mind changes from practicing yoga. I am now more flexible than I ever thought was possible. I have a calmness within that has transformed me. I am honoured to have the knowledge now, to pass the gift of yoga onto my students. I am really excited about starting my career as a yoga teacher and I look forward to developing my students understanding of their own bodies and minds.
